Athboy Credit Union has been serving the Athboy and surrounding areas since 1969 and over the last half century we have been dedicated to helping members reach their financial goals. In 2022 we loaned over €5m into the community helping families and individuals do a range of projects from changing their cars, to work on their homes to going on holidays and financing education costs.

We are a not-for-profit financial cooperative, owned and operated by its members. The member benefits by receiving a dividend on their share account and lower rates on loans and services, plus you will appreciate the friendly personalised service that still sets us apart from other financial institutions, the last of which closed their doors in Athboy in 2021.

This year we are pleased to announce that our Festival Loan is back. We are offering a great rate of 7.02% APR on all loans over €8000. Applications can be made at our office or online at www.athboycu.ie. We are also open for applications from local bodies and established businesses looking for finance to help grow their business.

We are dedicated to being a vital part of our local community and have been the major sponsor of the Blue Jean Country Queen Festival since 2015. We are proud to continue be associated with the festival which brings an air of fun to the town over the June bank holiday weekend.

Again this year the Credit Union, on Saturday June 3rd, will host a Family Fun day with games, face painting ice cream and lots more between 2pm and 5pm. We will also hold our bi annual Car Draw. All members are welcome to attend.

Athboy Credit Union was founded in 1969 by a group of locals. Their goal was to create a member-owned financial cooperative, democratically controlled by its members, and operated for the purpose of promoting thrift, providing credit at competitive rates, and providing other financial services to its members. Today with over €34 million in assets we serve over 6000 members from Athboy and surrounding areas. Athboy Credit Union is governed by member volunteers elected to the Board of Directors and managed by experienced financial professionals.

To all our members we thank you for being a part of the tradition of Athboy Credit Union for more than 50 years and trusting us with your financial needs and we look to a great weekend of fun with our visitors from all over the country.
